Angela Au Barbera, M.D. is a board-certified vitreo-retinal surgeon who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases. Dr. Barbera completed her undergraduate education at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania. She earned her medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (through the combined six-year accelerated PremedicalMedical Program in conjunction with The Pennsylvania State University).
Dr. Barbera completed her internship at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Pennsylvania. She then completed her ophthalmology residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During the final year of her residency, she was awarded the honor of Chief Resident. Dr. Barbera finished her medical training with her fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgery and diseases at Albany Medical Center/Retina Consultants in Albany, NY. She was appointed a Clinical Assistant Professor during her fellowship.
Dr. Barbera has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and has been an invited ophthalmology lecturer. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. Prior to joining Progressive Vision Institute, Dr. Barbera held the leadership positions of Associate Program Director and Program Director of the Ophthalmology Residency Program at Temple University.
Dr. Barbera enjoys spending her free time with her family, cooking, trying new restaurants, traveling, reading, and cheering for the Eagles!
